| Today over 40 members from numerous Region 4&6 Fire Departments participated in a regional command and tactic workshop hosted at Station 53.
The Norristown Fire Department and LPFD Chief Lentz coordinated this unique training opportunity. Without the leadership of the Norristown Fire Department undertaking the development of this valuable training it would not have been possible.
Members were rotated through scenario's of simulated emergencies in each of the first due territories that we all respond to and assist each other with. Students had the opportunity to operate as Incident Commander and as the Apparatus Officer of one of the responding 5 Engine and 2 Ladder Companies.
Students used radios to communicate with a county dispatcher, the calls Incident Commander, and the Officers of each arriving piece of apparatus.
Prompts were provided by a narrator who controlled the simulation; then the units held a brief "Hot Wash or debrief after each scenario to better learn and interact with members of each department.
This valuable training will hopefully be completed every year as we continue to craft our skills.
