Just before 9:30pm last night, Tower 53 was dispatched on the initial alarm with the ROC companies for a reported house on fire in the area of Main Street and Forrest Avenue in Norristown Borough. Initial reports indicated a fire on the front porch of a residence with a grill possibly involved.
Initial arriving units arrived to a 3 story twin with fire showing from the porch extending to the exposure and upper floors.
BC53-1 arrived and assumed the Main Street Command, working in unison with NFD and mutual aid officers. Tower 53 with 5 members aboard, arrived and assumed the first due truck responsibilities.
Tower 53’s crew split with 2 members conducting primary searches in the dwellings and a roof crew laddering the dwelling and performing horizontal ventilation for interior crews. Tower 53 operated until approximately 11PM when they went available.
Due to great inter-agency coordination and team efforts, the fire was held in check with only minor-moderate extension.
