| Every Tuesday members gather at the station to conduct training activities and exercises.
Last Tuesday the focus of training was on drafting. Drafting is used when fire hydrants are not readily available; in Lower Providence that exists in a small section of the Collegeville Section and in the far end of Audubon. In this situation Fire Engines can pull water from a creek or pond, but usually this is done from a portable pond that is filled by a rotation of Tankers.
Our partners from the Perkiomen Fire Company (Tanker 66) assisted us by providing their portable tank for us to practice with; Fun Fact their portable tank can hold up to 3,000 gallons of water.
It’s always good to be familiar with apparatus and tools from mutual aid partners. |
