| This morning just before 8am, the LPFD was dispatched to a reported microwave on fire in the 3000 block of Cardin Place in the Eagleville section of the Township. Chief 53 arrived with smoke showing from the front door and the resident reporting the fire had spread from the microwave into the kitchen. Chief 53 assumed command and upgraded the assignment to the working fire dispatch which called for mutual aid from Jefferson, Norristown, Norriton, Worcester, Collegeville & Trappe fire departments. Engine 53 arrived as the first due engine and secured a positive water supply, then made a quick interior attack to prevent the fire from extending any further. Crews from Tower 53, Squad 46, Squad 27, Squad 61 and Ladder 83 assisted with overhaul and ventilation. Engine 34 and Ladder 77 were diverted to Station 53A to standby and cover the township until crews were released from the scene. There were no injuries to civilians or fire department personnel. The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowners that were displaced and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Lower Providence Fire Marshal’s office.
